FAQs
Why do I need to get fills and how often should I get them?
Do lash extensions damage my natural lashes?
When apply properly, they absolutely do NOT damage your lashes! They're actually healthier for your lashes than daily use of mascara! The biggest MYTH about lash extensions is that they're super damaging to your lashes, which if applied incorrectly or without proper training, can be true. Natural lashes shed out every day, just like the hair on top of your head, you just might not notice how many fall out. With lash extensions, it's easier to notice them naturally falling out, which is where the myth comes from.
How can I prepare for my appointment?
Come with no makeup on and don't use waterproof mascara or eyeliner 48 hours prior to your appointment.
Please avoid caffeine before your appointment. Caffeine can cause your eyes to flutter which can lead to the eye pads shifting and cause chemical burns.
Plan to shower the morning of your appointment as you can't expose your lash extensions to water or steam for 24-48 hours after your appointment.
No gum! Chewing gum causes your face to move, making it very difficult to keep lashes isolated and line up correctly.
Wear comfy clothes. You're going to be laying down for 1-3 hours, depending on your service. This is the time to rest and relax!
Please let everyone know that you'll be unreachable for the duration of your appointment and silence your cell phone. I will not read texts for you and taking phone calls can be very disruptive.
Do lash extensions hurt?
When applied properly, lash extensions should never hurt! Slight irritation of the eye can be common for an hour or so after the appointment. If the irritation is more than slight, or lasts for longer than 2 hours, please contact your lash artist immediately!
What's the difference between volume 1 and volume 2? And why isn't there a fill option for volume 2?
The biggest difference between them is that volume 2 gives me more time to make sure every last one of your lashes are lashed, and allows me to get more baby lashes. Volume 1 focuses more on growing or fully grown lashes, getting the baby lashes if there's time. This is what makes volume 2 the fullest set. Both use ultra fine diameters.
Fills are based more on retention and time, therefore, the reason why there's only one volume fill option is the same reasons listed above.
What are weekend lashes?
Weekend lashes are small segments of a type of strip lash. Instead of the segments being glued to the eyelid like traditional strip lashes, they are glued onto your natural lash. The glue that is used doesn't harden like lash extension glue so it stays flexible, but lasts longer than regular strip glue. Because of the flexible glue, it can go on multiple natural lashes with damage because it allows the natural lash to still grow through the glue. Segments are brick-laid on the top and bottom of your natural lashes. Depending on the look you're wanting, they can go just on the bottom for a more natural look.
Can I get lash extensions if I'm on Accutane?
It is advised to avoid lash extensions while on it. Accutane and medication like Accutane can cause the skin to be very sensitive. Lash extensions should never hurt you or put you in pain, however getting lash extensions while on Accutane or similar medications can cause pain or a poking sensation during the procedure. There's also a possibility that the glue being used may cause irritation that can lead to blepharitis (eyelid inflammation).
